NVIDIA driver 180.11 working great

Today I saw a post on the Kubuntu mailing list with a hint on how to install the latest NVIDIA driver under Intrepid (8.10) of Kubuntu. First I was thinking if I should really try it - I crashed my system once before because of the failing NVIDIA update. But then I went for it. And wow... what can I say. Most of the graphic problems which have been present with the 177 driver release seem to have disappeared. Thanks Kubuntu - thanks NVIDIA. That was a long time to get things fixed :-)

If you want to try it yourself as well, you need to have the experimental repository (the one which contains KDE 4.2) enabled and then do:
~$ sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx-180
